Winter Training Description
The winter is our most popular season and the cornerstone of Proformance Soccer. With the chance to work with players over an extended time period, we are able to hone in on an individual player’s development and progress.
Due to such limited indoor space, groups sizes are limited and will be closed when at capacity. Our winter programs run for two separate 8-week sessions at over ten different indoor locations.
The winter program is open to individual players, but also is attended by entire teams seeking crucial skill development instruction along with portions of game play. Living in Massachusetts during the winter months many kids put their soccer ball and cleats away in the closet … however it is extremely important to play throughout the winter. Players that use the winter months to continue to play soccer, stay sharp and enter the spring outdoor seasons with a huge advantage on their peers.
There will be a heavy emphasis placed on footwork, passing, and shooting. The philosophy behind our training programs is that the mastery of fundamental soccer movements will lead to increased performance. Mastery of these movements is achieved using our age appropriate system of drills designed to build muscle memory. Our summer and winter clinics are designed for players of all abilities, benefitting novice to elite level players.
With the exception of Bedford, which is a turf facility, all other sites are in flat surfaced gymnasiums. At gym locations players wear indoor shoes or sneakers (no cleats) and the clinics will feature regular soccer ball skill training and futsal style matches. Futsal is small sided soccer (5v5) played with a weighted ball. Futsal is an extremely valuable soccer training tool and has been credited by many Brazilian soccer greats (Pele, Zico, Neymar) as playing a key role in developing their skills. Additional Info
Staff
The staff to player ratio at all programs will be no greater than 12:1. Our coaches possess a comprehensive knowledge of the game, and have the enthusiasm and skill to teach players of all abilities and ages. Please email for a more comprehensive description of the coaches for certain programs.
Professional Player Availability
In the past we have had current or former professional players make occasional guest appearances. Past players to appear at our soccer include: Shalrie Joseph (8 Time MLS All-Star), Avery John (2006 World Cup Player), Cat Whitehill (Boston Breakers Women’s Pro Captain), Darrius Barnes (New England Revolution), Maddie Evans (Boston Breakers)
We have a top notch coaching staff of elite local coaches in addition to our professional player component. Many of our coaches currently work at the college and high school level.
Age Group Breakdown
This winter we are grouping players based on birth year. If your child would like to be placed in a different age group than they automatically fall, please call or email us.
Inclement Weather
Some of the indoor facilites we use have no cancellation policies, even if there is extreme snow. For these “no-cancellation facilities” due to the cost of renting space, all programs will proceed unless the facility itself decides to close. Some sites will allow us to reschedule in the event of inclement weather, which we will do. For more information contact us.
Goalkeepers
Goalkeepers are welcome to come to the Academy – however there will not be a separate goalkeeper program. We believe that having basic soccer skills is essential even for goalkeepers. When matches are played goalkeepers may be used in the nets depending on the circumstances.
Group Placement
Players will be placed based on age/sex/skill level. If you feel your child would not be challenged in their designated age group and would like them to play “up” an age group, please email us.
Team Discounts
For team’s registering six or more players, all players will receive a $30 discount. Please contact us with questions or for further details.
Sibling Discounts
Due to facility rental costs – there is no winter sibling discount.
Refund Policy
Due to staffing and facility costs there is a no refund policy. If you need to cancel, an account credit will be issued that can be applied towards any future program.
